9/18/06: Chillicothe, Ohio: Take Aim, Pardner, For Fun And Charity
From the article:
-
Playing cowboy and cowgirl doesn’t have to end with childhood. The grown-up gunslingers known as the Scioto Territory Desperados know that for a fact.
Yesterday, the Old West group gathered here in the hills of southern Ross County about 60 miles south of Columbus for a shooting match. The men and women were authentically dressed in period clothing, and they shot at steel targets using replicas of the revolvers, rifles and shotguns of the time.
Cowboy Action Shooting is growing fast and looks like a lot of fun. The Scioto Territory Desperados were able to shoot, have fun, and help a charity at the same time. What else could you ask for?
9/16/06: Columbus, Ohio: Candidates Push For Sportsmen's Vote
From the article:
Republican Ken Blackwell and Democrat Ted Strickland mostly agree on what they'd do as governor for Ohioans' ability to carry hidden guns. Asking what the other has done on the issue, though, produces much disagreement.
Blackwell and Strickland were the featured speakers Saturday night at the annual U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance banquet. The private banquet was closed to media who do not specialize in outdoors coverage.
The Buckeye Firearms Association attended the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance banquet. It was a great opportunity to hear both candidates speak about their view of the Second Amendment and other sportsdmen related issues.
9/15/06: Columbus, Ohio: Used-Car Lot Owner Kills Man Trying To Rob Him
From the article:
The owner of a Mifflin Township used-car lot killed a gunman who tried to rob the business yesterday, shooting him in the face, according to the Franklin County sheriff’s office.
Another armed citizen is alive thanks to a firearm. However, it seems that the gun-grabbers would rather see this used car lot owner robbed and possibly killed, than use a firearm to defend himself.
9/15/06: Columbus, Ohio: Man Shot During Attempted Home Break-In
From the article:
A homeowner was injured in a shooting that, police said, stemmed from an attempted home break-in on the city's east side on Friday afternoon. The incident began at a home on Rivercreek Bay Way at about 3:45 p.m.
Home invasions are just one of the reasons why we must protect our right to keep and bear arms. Unfortunately, the Columbus politicians would rather disarm homeowners then actually try to prevent crime. It looks like they care more about protecting criminals then their own law-abiding citizens.
9/14/06: Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio: Park To Reopen Debate On Reducing Deer Herd
From the article:
-
The Cuyahoga Valley National Park might use sharpshooters to kill white-tailed deer. The National Park Service has published notice in the Federal Register that the 33,000-acre park between Akron and Cleveland is beginning a detailed review that will include public meetings in October. Park officials are bracing for a heated debate as the park struggles to determine what to do with its growing deer herd.
A whole range of deer-control options will be considered, but park officials said it is impossible to predict whether sharpshooters might be selected. It is likely, though, because effective options are limited, experts say.
Hunting the deer is the best solution is to problem of over population. The animal rights groups would rather have a deer starve to death then have its meat donated to homeless shelter. Their solutions such as birth control for deer do not work.
9/14/06: Montreal, Canada: Police Kill Attacker In Montreal Shooting
From the article:
A man in a black trench coat and a Mohawk haircut opened fire Wednesday at a downtown Montreal college, killing a young woman and wounding at least 19 other people before police shot and killed him, witnesses and authorities said.
This tragedy was not prevented by Canada's strict gun laws. In fact, all they did was ensure that the criminal had a countless number of unarmed victims. when will the gun-grabbers learn that gun laws only disarm the law-abiding and empower the predators of society?
