For the sixth year in a row, Buckeye Firearms Association has teamed up with the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance, as well as several other conservation & firearms-related groups, to host a candidate's forum. The event will take place in Columbus on March 15th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and we hope you will make plans to attend!
Several Buckeye Firearms Association leaders and volunteers will be on hand. This is an excellent opportunity to meet with us, as well as the many Ohio candidates that will be in attendance. There is no better way to become informed about our choices in the upcoming elections, and to make our voices heard.
Press Release from USSA:
The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance (USSA) will host a legislative reception for the members of Ohio's Congressional Delegation and State General Assembly with sportsman leaders on March 15, 2011 at the Athletic Club of Columbus from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event is part of the organization's annual effort to connect Ohio's sportsmen's community with state and federal legislators.
Legislators will use the informal atmosphere as an opportunity meet opinion leaders from prominent sportsmen and conservation organizations statewide. The Athletic Club is located at 136 E. Broad St. in downtown Columbus.
The 2011 Legislative Reception comes at an opportune time, as control of the Ohio House of Representatives has shifted party hands, meaning that there are many new faces controlling key committees and influencing policy that can affect sportsmen. Additionally, the new state budget will be introduced the day of the reception and it's important that legislators hear from sportsmen.
Sponsors of the Legislative Reception include Gander Mountain, the Ohio State Council of Pheasants Forever, Buckeye Firearms Association, Ohio State Trappers Association, the Ohio State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Ithaca Gun Company, the Southwest Ohio Chapter Safari Club International, Whitetails Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited.
These prominent sportsmen's organizations and sporting good businesses help underwrite the cost of the event and set the stage to ensure sportsmen's voices are heard.
"This event provides a unique opportunity for sportsmen to have dialogue with Ohio lawmakers," said Evan Heusinkveld, USSA director of state services. "We strongly encourage sportsmen from across Ohio to attend this event."
