$27,000 in Prizes at the NRA/Springfield M1A Match
FAIRFAX, Va. - The sixth annual NRA/Springfield M1A Match will take place this weekend at the NRA National Rifle and Pistol Matches in Camp Perry, Ohio. The richest High Power event ever held, Springfield Armory is offering more than $27,000 in cash and merchandise prizes.
"The National Matches at Camp Perry are a world-class event thanks to partners like Springfield Armory and their sponsorship of this truly unique event," said Dennis Willing, Director of NRA's Competitive Shooting Division.
Any configuration of the M1A rifle is allowed. The course of fire is 50 shots at 300 yards from the prone, kneeling and standing positions on the MR-65F target. The Civilian Match winner is scheduled to walk away with $1,500 while the rest of the cash and prizes will end up with top competitors and those who win the Springfield Gun Drawing.
"The M1A was the firearm of choice for many years in rifle competition," said Mike Doy, Facilities Manager at Springfield Armory. "Although its presence on the firing line has waned, the M1A remains a highly-respected and effective rifle. The popularity of the NRA/Springfield M1A match goes to show that many shooters still enjoy competing with it."
