Ohio Supreme Court 2004

In 2003, only two Ohio Supreme Court Justices out of seven voted to overturn Ohio's 150-year old ban on concealed carry. Both of those Justices were our endorsees!

Although the Court unanimously denied the first constitutional challenge to Ohio's Concealed Carry Reform, the law is bound to have further constitutional challenges in the courts. Thus, we continue to stress that the makeup of the Ohio Supreme Court is crucial.

In the last election, your votes for our endorsees ended a 4-3 liberal slant on the court. In 2004, it is imperative that we elect a Court committed to the Constitution. On November 2, 2004, there is an opportunity to replace an anti-CCW Justice with one committed to upholding the Constitutional right to bear arms!

In 2004, we ENDORSE the following candidate for the Ohio Supreme Court:

Lanzinger will assume the seat vacated by retiring Justice Francis Sweeney (D), who voted to uphold the concealed carry ban.

Notes on other Justices who seek re-election in November 2004:

Efforts in researching Justice Terrence O'Donnell, who was appointed to the Court by Gov. Taft after President Bush called Deborah Cook to the Federal bench, did not produce enough information to make an endorsement. The NRA endorses O'Donnell. WIN!

Chief Justice Moyer, who voted to uphold the concealed carry ban, has opposition. - WIN

Justice Pfiefer (R) wrote the opinion upholding Ohio's concealed carry ban. Pfiefer is unopposed. - WIN
