Be sure to make room on your calendar March 14th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Buckeye Firearms Association has teamed up with the U.S. Sportsman's Alliance as well as several other conservation groups to host a candidate's forum in Columbus.

Several Buckeye Firearms Association leaders and volunteers will be on hand. This is an excellent opportunity to meet with us as well as the many Ohio candidates that will be in attendance. This is the perfect opportunity to become informed about our choices in the upcoming elections and to make our voices heard.

Leaders in Conservation Team with USSA to Sponsor Statewide Candidates’ Reception

(Columbus) - The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) has teamed with key conservation groups and outdoor businesses to host a Candidate Forum. The event will allow Ohio sportsmen to meet with nominees for statewide and local offices including governor.

Forum sponsors include the National Wild Turkey Federation Ohio State Chapter, Buckeye Firearms Association, Gander Mountain, Ohio State Trappers Association, Pheasants Forever, and Ducks Unlimited.

The event will feature remarks by a special guest from the National Rifle Association, which is also sponsoring the forum.

The more informed sportsmen are about their candidates, the better decisions they can make at the polls. The candidate reception will be March 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Athletic Club of Columbus. The Athletic Club is located at 136 E. Broad St. in downtown Columbus.

Candidates for governor, attorney general, secretary of state and other offices will be on hand to listen to sportsmen’s concerns and ideas. Legislative candidates for the Ohio House of Representatives and Senate will also meet outdoorsmen.

“Ohio legislators support conservation initiatives because sportsmen constituents express their views on these topics,” said Anthony Celebrezze USSA’s director of state services. “The USSA and the Candidate Forum sponsors have planned the upcoming forum to provide sportsmen with an opportunity to prepare for future legislative proposals by educating and discussing issues with candidates.”

The 2006 Candidate Forum comes at an opportune time. Sportsmen can learn candidates’ opinions about conservation issues before going to the polls for the primary election on May 2, 2006.
