Buckeye Firearms Association PAC strong and growing stronger
By Jim Irvine
Buckeye Firearms Association filed our post-primary report with the Ohio Secretary of State recently. Thanks to you, we are bigger and stronger than we have ever been, and we are continuing to grow. Your support truly matters.
This report covered the period from February 14 to April 4, 2008. During this time we received $10,490 in donations. Most of this was attributable to our Dave Grossman fundraising event scheduled for September 27th. We also received donations from more than 20 other defenders and supporters. Every one counts.
Our expenses of $928.17 included:
$341.63 deposit for room for Dave Grossman event
$328.79 Bank, Paypal and Mastercard transaction fees
$159.95 for wallet cards
$97.80 for mail/postage
We ended the reporting period with $19,492.15 in cash on hand - more than ever before.
We have large bills to pay associated with the Dave Grossman event, but are in a stronger financial position heading into a crucial election year than we have ever been. With this increased money, comes increased responsibility.
How much to spend, and where to spend it are difficult to answer. As conditions change, so do those answers. We are closely monitoring the political climate as well as the performance of past endorsees and promises of political challengers. More money gives us more options. We will continue to spend your money in the way we think is most likely to result in the changes you need to exercise your right to keep and bear arms.
It is easy to spend huge amounts of money, but that is not the goal of this PAC. Our goal is to have a huge amount of impact. We don’t exist to collect and disperse money, we exist to elect people who will help pass laws that will protect and restore your firearms rights.
Our success is measured in laws and lives, not grand ideas. We expect you to measure our worth by results, not just effort. In the past year we have expended enormous amounts of work and effort, but we brought you zero tangible results. The reasons and excuses do not matter. You have every reason to be perturbed.
We will continue to ask for your help, through monetary donations, time on campaigns and contact with the legislature. All three components are needed to win the battles we face. With your steadfast support, positive results will come.
We are humbled by the growing support shown to us, especially during difficult financial times. The numbers prove that people still care about issues, and will make sacrifices for things they believe in. Politicians should take notice.
Everyone at Buckeye Firearms Association greatly appreciates the trust, support and confidence that you have shown us. We are grateful. It’s going to be a busy and interesting summer and we will continue to use the influence you give us to secure real improvements to our laws.
Jim Irvine is the Buckeye Firearms Association Chairman.
