Buckeye Firearms Assoc.'s Joe Eaton to participate in roundtable discussion at Dayton Peace Museum
Buckeye Firearms Association's Treasurer Joe Eaton will be participating in a roundtable discussion on the proposed changes to Ohio's self-defense laws on Saturday May 3 at the Dayton Peace Museum (www.daytonpeacemuseum.org). Rep. Fred Strahorn (D-39) and others are scheduled to also participate in the discussion. This roundtable discussion will take place at 2:00pm as part of the current exhibit "America's Gun Culture" which runs through June 22 at the museum. (See exhibit description) Seating it very limited for this event.
"America's Gun Culture"
Continuing Through June 22, 2014With an estimated 300 million firearms in circulation, many argue that the nation is inundated with weapons and fear the human toll they've taken is too high. Over 30,000 people die each year from a gun-related injury. At the same time, guns are enjoyed by tens of thousands of Americans for sport, and many more rely on them for self-defense.
The history of guns, statistics about US and international gun deaths, an overview of legal issues, and data about gun violence will be part of the exhibit. On a lighter note, displays will include a selection of gun quotes, "bumper sticker" sayings, editorial cartoons, posters, comic strips and other gun- related activities.
While the scheduler told Eaton that he wants the event to be a "non-partisan discussion," if the subtle bias contained in this press release is any indication (just "tens of thousands of Americans" enjoy firearms for sport? Actually, the number is in the tens of millions), Eaton has his work cut out for him.
We hope BFA supporters living in the area can attend!
