On Tuesday, the Senate Veterans & Public Safety Committee will hear testimony in favor of SB 215, Senator Terry Johnson's Constitutional Carry bill.

Buckeye Firearms Association will be testifying. And we'd like you to be there too.

You can testify to support this bill or just be there to show committee members that there is broad community support for Constitutional Carry.

Ohio and 33 other states already allow open carry without a license. Plus 21 states allow concealed carry without a license. So permitless or “license optional” carry is a proven concept.

It will NOT allow criminals to carry guns – Those who are currently prohibited from buying, owning, or possessing guns will continue to be prohibited.

It will NOT allow misuse of a firearm – Current laws prohibiting the criminal misuse of a firearm (brandishing, discharging, threatening, etc.) will continue to be in force.

It will NOT allow guns in prohibited places – Areas that are currently off-limits for firearms will continue to be off-limits.

It will NOT affect the rights of property owners – Private property owners can continue to choose whether or not to allow firearms on their property.

It will NOT change use-of-force laws – The legal standard for using a firearm in self-defense remains the same.

It will NOT make law enforcement more difficult – Police in 21 other states have no problems with traffic stops involving unlicensed citizens.
