Campbell, Ohio Police Department holding gun raffle
WKBN 27 is reporting that the Campbell, Ohio Police Department is holding a gun raffle to raise money for a new K9.
Storm, the department's current K9, was involved in a car accident in July, forcing him to "retire" to lighter duty. Replacing him will be expensive, costing about $15,000.
Campbell Officer Eric Manning says Storm has had quite a career. "He's had hundreds of drug-related arrests through narcotic detection, traffic stops, building searches. He's also had apprehensions with violent felons, fleeing suspects, the things people see on TV, that's what he does."
The reaction to the raffle has been mostly positive, but of course, some gun control extremists aren't happy about it.
According to Manning, "One of the main complaints that I'm hearing is, 'You're a police department. Your job is to get guns off the street,'" he said. "At the Campbell Police Department, we believe in the Second Amendment. We believe in people's right to bear arms. We believe in law-abiding citizens' right to own guns. We also believe in Ohio's concealed carry laws."
So naturally, when we at Buckeye Firearms Association heard about the raffle, and the silly complaints, we immdiately wanted to help.
So we're asking all our supporters to give Officer Manning and the Campbell PD some help. Tickets are just $20. Funds will go directly to a great cause. And you'll get the satisfaction of showing the gun grabbers that having pro-gun police is a good thing. And hey, what's wrong with raffling off some guns to law-abiding Ohio citizens?
"Because of the level of arrests and the impact on crime that the K-9 program has had in the city," said Manning, "we need to keep that going. That's why it's essential to get another dog and put it out on the road."
The drawing will be on Sunday, December 4, 2016. For tickets, call 330-755-1411 or email [email protected].
