Colorado CHL-holder Recalls Encounter With Church Gunman

The story of concealed handgun license-holder Jeanne Assam's brave actions to stop a murderous rampage killer in Colorado Springs, Colorado's New Life Church won't soon be forgotten. From CNSNews.com:

"She probably saved over 100 lives," the Brady Boyd, the pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, said on Monday. The female guard, a church member dressed in plain clothes, killed the gunman after he opened fire at the mega-church. Boyd said she "rushed toward the attacker and took him down in the hallway" as he entered the building.

Thanks to Ohio law, CHL-holders are banned from attending worship services (or even entering the building) while armed, unless they have received special permission from church/synagogue/mosque officials. In other words, it takes a conscious act on the part of church leaders to come to terms with the threat, as New Life Church did a few years ago, and to take the necessary steps to lift the state-imposed ban on self-defense in places of worship.

Potentially one hundred or more people are alive today in Colorado Springs because of the comprehensive contingency plans made by New Life Church for just such an event - plans that included forming security teams made up of armed churchgoer. Does your church have a security guard ministry?
