Dayton Daily covers Wednesday Walk again
Sunday's Dayton Daily News has a story about our open-carry Defense Walk from last Wednesday, a school funding protest the same day, and the fact that Issue 1 may end up on the March 2004 Primary Ballot.
What the article didn't point out is the fact that Ohioans For Concealed Carry has collected an estimated 50,000 signatures demanding concealed carry reform, and Issue 1 failed by just under that many votes!
Maybe if Governor Taft learned how to follow through with his promises, people who put him in office might believe him when he says Issue 1 won't raise taxes.
Maybe if Governor Taft didn't say he'd pass concealed carry when he first campaigned, only to add his law enforcement requirement at a later date, we might actually believe him.
Of course, as the article points out, Ohio doesn't have a concealed carry law. We like to point out that Issue 1 failed in conservative rural districts by nearly 2 to 1.
Could it be that Taft can't be trusted? These Cleveland Plain Dealer letter-writers think so!
It's obvious the media and Taft do not want Issue 1's defeat to be seen for what it is. On Saturday, the Columbus Dispatch published letter to the editor from a former Taft communications director, who is trying to spin the loss away from Taft.
Hopefully President Bush's campaign team will not be fooled by Taft's spin - the stories below offer all the proof that is needed: conservatives in Ohio are hopping mad, and Bob Taft and other liberal Republicans are the focus of their disappointment.
