Democrat candidates to Midwestern gun owners: You are bitter and stupid
Me to gun owners who vote for either one: You're just stupid.
By Chad D. Baus
One insults our small-town values. The other insults our inteligence. Just another week in the Democrats' 2008 Presidential primary.
According to the Huffington Post, Obama insulted Midwestern gun owners (among others) during a fund-raiser with wealthy San Francisco liberals:
“You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them,” Obama said. “And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
I am a resident of a small Midwest town. I am a Christian. I own guns. I believe foreigners should have to follow the same rules my great-grandparents did when they came to this country from Russia.
Thus in the eyes of Barack Obama, I am a bitter, frustrated bigot.
And this is the guy they say can bring America together?
Hillary Clinton, sensing an opportunity to grab a few more votes in her desperate bid to win the popular vote as a means of taking the fight all the way to the Democrats' national convention in August, countered by insulting gun owners in a whole other way.
Hillary, it is apparent, thinks we are all extremely stupid.
From the New York Times:
For the third time since Mr. Obama’s remarks were made public Friday night, Mrs. Clinton criticized him at length, saying his comments seemed “kind of elitist and out of touch.”
“I disagree with Senator Obama’s assertion that people in our country cling to guns and have certain attitudes about immigration or trade simply out of frustration,” she said.
She described herself as a pro-gun churchgoer, recalling that her father taught her how to shoot a gun when she was a young girl and said that her faith “is the faith of my parents and my grandparents.”
For Hillary Clinton to ask gun owners like me to believe that she is a "pro-gun churchgoer" is every bit as deeply offensive as Obama calling us "bitter" and "frustrated". One doesn't have to look to hard at all to discover that this is a bigger, more disprovable lie than was her imagined arrival in Bosnia while under sniper fire.
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
If you go to the polls to vote for Clinton or Obama because your union told you to, you prostituting your Second Amendment rights (and mine) for a better paycheck.
If you go to the polls to vote for Clinton or Obama because you've always been Democrat, you prostituting your Second Amendment rights (and mine) for political gain.
My friend and co-writer at BuckeyeFirearms.org, Brian Stewart, observed recently that "gun owners are not stupid, nor are they easily fooled." For the most part, I agree. But when it comes to pro-gun Democrats, I can't say it any simpler than this:
If you are a pro-gun Democrat, and you go to the polls to vote for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, you are both stupid and foolish.
