Gahanna Considers Allowing Gun Training In Parks
Columbus' 10TV is reporting that the Gahanna City Council is considering legislation that would allow weapons training in public parks.
From the story:
Hannah Park, located off of Clark State Road, is one of two places where the city could allow weapons training. The park is not isolated; homes surround the park just outside of its boundaries and residents said they are concerned.
Undeveloped land off of Price Road on the city's southwest side would be the other location approved for training, Mallett reported.
City spokesman Brian Hoyt said Boy Scouts, who need training for a merit badge, would be allowed to practice in those two areas.
Hoyt said only air rifles would be allowed and no live ammunition could be used.
If approved, the city would require anyone holding a training session to file for a city permit and be certified by either the National Rifle Association or the Boy Scouts, Mallett reported.
The article notes that, if approved by council, the legislation will take effect in 30 days.
