GOP contenders line up for shot at Manning's old spot
Several candidates have tossed their hats into the ring to replace former state Rep. Jeff Manning, who recently resigned to take the position of Lorain Co. prosecutor.

Manning’s former House seat includes the cities of North Ridgeville, Elyria and Avon and must be filled by a Republican from one of those cities.
Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder appointed a screening committee earlier this month to name Manning’s replacement.
The screening committee will make a recommendation to the House Republican caucus, after interviewing candidates, and the caucus will vote to fill the vacancy.
The screening committee consists of Householder; Rep. Gary Cates, R-West Chester; Rep. Patty Clancy, R-Colerain Township; Rep. James Trakas, R-Independence; Rep. Charles Calvert, R-Medina; Rep. Sally Conway Kilbane, R-Rocky River; and Rep. Kathleen Walcher, R-Norwalk.
OFCC PAC Commentary:
Last November, Mr. Manning's re-election campaign was identified by OFCC PAC as a KEY RACE. A lot of hard work went into ensuring that this seat was held by a pro-CCW Representative.
Recommendations/ requests that Manning's replacement share his values on CCW/ self-defense rights may be voiced to the Lorain County Republican Party, by calling (440) 233-6298, or by writing a letter to 2303 Cleveland Blvd., Lorain, OH 44052.
OFCC PAC will continue to monitor the process of seeking Manning's replacement.
