Letter to the Editor: Kerry pandering, not hunting
October 27, 2004
Newark Advocate
John Kerry runs around with a shotgun under his arm on the campaign trail for a good reason: Just as he is trying to fool minorities into believing his lies to get their vote, he is trying to fool gun owners into believing he is pro-Second Amendment to get their votes also.
Here are some facts on his record:
If elected president, not only will we need to pass a global test to aggressively defend ourselves from terrorists, but violent criminals will have a strong ally in disarming the law-abiding citizens of America!

Kerry is anti-2nd Amendment
I have seen pictures of John Kerry dressed in hunter orange, posing as a man, and suddenly claiming, during his campaign, to be a support of the 2nd Amendment. Once again, Mr. Kerry is deceiving voters about his past history and character. He will do and say anything for a vote, including lying in this last debate. During his career in the U.S. Senate, Mr. Kerry has voted 51 times for restrictive gun-control measures. Every time that Mr. Kerry has had a chance to defend the 2nd Amendment, he has voted against it.
Unknown to the majority of Americans, the United Nations is currently formulating an international anti-gun, anti-2nd Amendment treaty scheduled to be complete in 2006. If ratified by the U.S. Senate (which has many anti-2nd Amendment Senators) and if signed into law by the president, this bill would eventually mean the end of the U.S. citizen's right to own firearms and would totally undermine the Bill of Rights.
The recently enacted Campaign Reform Finance Law has provisions in it that prohibits organizations such as the National Rifle Association (NRA) from speaking out against a candidate publicly during the last 60 days before an election - thus undermining the 1st Amendment. The NRA has tried to get the same exemption from these rules that news organizations have. Mr. Kerry called the NRA's attempt an effort to "hijack America's airwaves." (Senate vote No. 64 April 2, 2001) ("Kerry asks FEC to block NRA channel" AP, Dec. 9, 2003).
Based upon Kerry's record in the Senate, NRA leadership has no doubts that he would sign the anti-2nd Amendment treaty with the U.N. usurping the U.S. Constitution and undermining the Bill of Rights. (Kerry has also voiced support for the Kyoto treaty with the U.N., which according to information I have received, would seriously undermine the national sovereignty and independence of the U.S.)
I am not deceived by Mr. Kerry's oratorical abilities and deceptions. Nor am I fooled by his campaign makeover on this issue. I believe what his past says about his character and his liberal Senate record. I firmly believe that John Kerry will betray American sovereignty into the hands of U.N. control if elected president. George Bush has been a 2nd Amendment supporter and opposed the Kyoto treaty. I will vote to keep: U.S. sovereignty, independence, freedom and the Bill of Rights.
