List of cities removing illegal signs continues to grow
This past week was dominated by news that, in spite of the law, the intent of Ohio General Assembly, and statements from the Ohio Attorney General, officials in the City of Clyde had chosen to continue enforcing an illegal ordinance banning concealed firearms on public property.
OFCC filed suit against the city of Clyde on behalf of its members, and just hours later, Sandusky County Common Pleas Judge Harry A. Sargeant, Jr. granted our request for a temporary restraining order, which prohibits the City of Clyde from enforcing the ordinance, and orders officials to remove the signs within 24 hours.
The City of Clyde is a member of an rapidly diminishing gang of improperly or illegally posted municipalities.
In the past two weeks, the cities of Bryan, Loveland, Macedonia, Norwood and Swanton reviewed the law and agreed to remove or relocate these signs, joining an extensive list of other cities, villages, townships and counties.
