A Message From the President about John Kerry...

As many of you may know it is possible to "submit news" by clicking the
link in the top left corner of our website. The system requires no
authentication -- so most stories are submitted anonymously. One such
story came in to us Monday evening that has blown our minds.

Please note that Ohioans For Concealed Carry or the OFCC PAC does not get involved in federal elections or federal issues. On the other hand, we have been challenged about our news stories and comments with respect to John Kerry, and it's time to defend our comments:

It is my personal opinion that no self-respecting, responsible gun owner
in the United States can vote for John Kerry, believe he is good on
guns, tell me he is good on guns, and keep a straight face.

Any person who feels this way is clearly confused, misled, or missing
the point entirely when it comes to electing a president friendly to gun
owners, our causes, and our constitutional rights.

Here is what was submitted to our website:

YOU PEOPLE ARE SO AFRAID KERRY IS GOING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS ITS 
DISGUSTING. MOST OF ALL THE CRAP YOUR PUTTING OUT ON THIS SITE IS LIES 
ABOUT WHERE JOHN KERRY STANDS ON GUNS. HE HAS NOTHING AGAINST LAW 
ABIDDING PEOPLE OR SPORTSMAN. WHY DO YOU PUT OUT THESE LIES? YOU HAVE 
ABOUT ALL DEMS LABLED AS GUN GRABBERS AND THIS IS JUST NOT TRUE. JUST 
LOOK AT THE SHAPE THIS COUNTRY IS IN WITH THE 4 YEARS OF BUSH. THIS IS 
THE BIGGEST MESS IN HISTORY AND IT WILL ONLY GET WORST WITH BUSH IN FOR 
4 MORE YEARS. I USE TO LOVE THIS SITE BUT WITH ALL THE LIES ON HERE I 
WILL NO LONGER SUPPORT THIS SITE.

Besides the fact that this probably came from a lurker opposed to our
website pretending to be truly upset, the fact is John Kerry has been
one of, and now remains, the biggest threat to law-abiding gun owners in the U.S. Senate.

Ohioans For Concealed Carry has never "labeled all Dems" as gun grabbers". The statement immediately after this accusation makes it clear that the author probably doesn't really believe John Kerry is so friendly to guns. Rather, he's opposed to President Bush and wants us to forget the history of John Kerry when it comes to gun issues.

The OFCC PAC has consistently endorsed Democrats for Ohio races when the
candidate was truly qualified for the position and convinced the PAC
that they were quality candidates favorable to gun owners.

OFCC never intentionally misleads anyone, as the anonymous
author suggested. The authors of our website have been consistently
upfront and forthcoming with the truth about John Kerry's record for the
past twenty some years as a United States Senator.

John Kerry has signed on with Diane Feinstein and Ted Kennedy enough
times to make it perfectly clear where he stands with respect to law-abiding gun owners: Opposed to us, period.

John Kerry has fought every effort to rescue firearms manufacturers who
have been taken to court to bankrupt the industry and put them out of
business. Trial lawyers like Kerry's running mate John Edwards raked in
the cash while small businesses spent every last penny defended the
practice of manufacturing a legal product.

The National Rifle Association has done excellent research on John
Kerry's voting history, which can be

found on the NRA ILA website here. Each vote includes a footnote
indicating where the information was sourced from.

As President George Bush said in the second debate - "you can run, but you
can not hide" [your voting record].

We (OFCC) are not saying that John
Kerry is going to "take your guns" -- we are saying that John Kerry's
history is indisputable, and his ability to appoint Supreme Court
Justices could be devastating. John Kerry's likely support of United Nations policies seeking to eliminate "small arms" possession by mere civilians
could be detrimental to vital freedoms in this country.

No matter how many times Kerry poses for photos accepting a firearm he
tried to ban just months before, and no matter how many times he is
photographed shooting without ear plugs, eye protection or other common
sense safety equipment, nothing will change the fact that Kerry is the
wrong choice for gun owners who cherish their rights.

According to just the NRA ILA website John Kerry...

- Has voted NINE times to ban semi-automatic firearms.

- Thinks that individual bullets should be taxed in an effort to make it financially impractical to shoot for fun and sport.

- Voted for a Ted Kennedy amendment to ban center fire ammunition! (The type used in most handguns)

- Wants to make it illegal to make personal firearms sales between friends who happen to meet at a gun show.

- Applauded the Millon Mom March on Washington calling for gun registration and more draconian gun laws against YOU!

- Voted TWICE to eliminate the Civilian Markmanship Program (CMP)

Anyone who wants to learn where John Kerry
stands on the firearm issue and wants "the whole truth" need just visit
Google and try searching for themselves -- the truth is out there and it
can not be denied.

John Kerry supported and would have renewed the Assault Weapons Ban that
the CDC and most Americans using common sense deemed ineffective. The
Clinton-era gun ban recently expired, making it legal for law-abiding
citizens to purchase regular size magazines for their handguns used for
self-defense (concealed carry).

The ban also prohibited certain long guns and accessories simply because
they "looked" menacing. It was a cosmetic ban that made law-abiding gun
owners jump through hoops, while having no positive reductions in crime
whatsoever -- had John Kerry been in control the law would not only be
renewed, it would likely have been made much much worse, to the pleasure
of anti-gun organizations.

If elected as President of the United States John Kerry could appoint
quite a few members to the United States Supreme Court -- justices that
could be as liberal as Kerry himself has been for the past twenty years.

The whole truth about John Kerry is quite frankly disgusting and indisputable. Nobody who can read and comprehend will believe that John Kerry is good for gun owners, and I appreciate you giving us the
opportunity to drive that point home one more time.
