It is election day across the country.
Today we elect a new Congress, 36 of 100 U.S. Senators, many Governors and a host of State and Local offices.
In Ohio, there are seven statewide offices on the ballot. The most contested are the Ohio Supreme Court Justices. There is no party listed on the ballot for judges, so pro-freedom voters need to know to vote for Sharon Kennedy and Judith French (If it's easier to remember just tell your family & friends to vote for the ladies for Supreme Court!). The statewide offices of Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Auditor and Treasurer are also on the ballot, and Buckeye Firearms Association PAC has endorsed in each of those races.
All Ohio voters will have a State Representative candidate on the ballot, and half of the State Senators are up for election.
Much has been made of Governor John Kasich's expected trouncing of the Democratic challenger. So great is the lead that Democrats pulled funding and have spent it on anti-gun rights candidates running for other statewide offices. This makes getting out to vote for pro-gun candidates even more critical for the important "down ticket" races.
There are also many county and local issues on the ballot. Create a Buckeye Firearms Association Custom Voter Guide for Your District for Ohio races and consult the NRA-PVF website or magazine for a list of endorsed Congressional candidates. If you are not sure of your district, you can find that information in the "Action Center" on our website.
Our founding fathers and veterans fought to give us a Republic where we have the opportunity to vote for our representation. Too many people have become lazy and apathetic about voting, and our government has suffered as a result. Today is our opportunity to start taking our country back - to elect people who will support and restore our rights.
Two years ago gun owners stayed home, or voted on other issues. That gave anti-gunners momentum and their attacks have been much stronger. While we narrowly escaped draconian gun control at the federal level, many states passed drastic anti-freedom bills in the wake of Sandy Hook. Good laws start with good electorates. Today it is your duty to vote for candidates that will restore your rights and uphold our freedom. Seize this opportunity and vote for our endorsed candidates.
Elections matter! Now get out and vote for pro-gun, pro-self-defense, pro-freedom candidates. (And drag a like-minded friend with you.)
Polls are open in Ohio from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
