Ohio CHL-holder credited with stopping robber's escape

WKEF, Dayton's ABC affiliate, is reporting that a customer with an Ohio concealed handgun detained a man who robbed a local restaurant.

Walter Schwytzer III went to [Tipp of the Town] restaurant and allegedly handed the hostess a note.

"To my knowledge it just said ‘I have a gun, give me your money,'" said [restaurant owner Paul] Loubier.

He got the money and took off.

"My customer took his life in his hands, for us, for my restaurant," said Loubier.

According to the article, Loubier was talking about a frequent customer named Jerry Baker, who came to the rescue while dining at Tipp of the Town, and who tWKEF refers to as a "Good Samartian."

Baker was sitting in a booth when the waitress told him 'we've just been robbed'.

He immediately jumped up and then went out the door chasing after the robber.

"As I approached his vehicle, I 'd seen him reach up above his visor for something and I didn't know if he had a weapon or not, so I went ahead and drew my weapon on him and basically told him to get out," said [Baker].

He told the suspect to lie down in the parking lot until police arrived.

The man tried to take off.

"When he did, I holstered my weapon back and basically just got him in a choke hold and held him there until the police got there," said Baker.

According to the article, it appears that Schwytzer is the same person who robbed the Pearson House (restaurant) a day earlier. In that case, a robbery occurred which fit the same description.

"I just can't stand for people to take advantage of people like that," said Baker.

"Can't thank our customer enough. My hero," said Loubier.

"I think it's good that people know there's people out there willing to stand up for others and try to help officers out a little bit if they can," said Baker.

Baker is identified in the news report as a concealed carry instructor.

According to the Dayton Daily News, Schwytzer was booked in the Miami County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery. His bond was set at $100,000.
