Dayton man jailed after being shot breaking into home
WHIO (CBS Dayton) is reporting that Danny R. Bryant, 37, is in jail with two counts of aggravated burglary and burglary - and two bullet wounds - after allegedly attempting to force his way into a Dayton residence around 4:40 a.m.
From the article:
The owner of a Baltimore Street home where a morning shooting occurred said her cousin shot a man who attempted to climb through a window.
The homeowner told our crew her cousin, who lives in the house, fired...at the intruder when he attempted to climb through a window and grab her.
The cousin’s husband and several young children were home when the shooting occurred.
According to the article, Bryant, the man who was shot, is known to police.
“He’s got a pretty lengthy criminal history,” said Sgt. Matt Beavers of the Dayton Police Department.
“When crews arrived on the scene, the individual that was shot was found on the porch laying there unconscious,” Beavers said.
Under Ohio's Castle Doctrine law, if someone unlawfully enters or attempts to enter an occupied home or temporary habitation, or occupied car, citizens have an initial presumption that they may act in self defense, and will not be second-guessed by the State.
