4H group honored by Ohio House of Representatives as 2016 SASP National Champions
On June 7, 2017 Members of the House of Representatives of the 132 General Assembly of Ohio presented the Ohio Steel Stingers with a Resolution Honoring the Ohio Steel Stingers as 2016 Scholastic Action Shooting Program National Champions.
The Resolution was presented by Representatives Keller, Conditt and Retherford of Butler County, Ohio, the home county for the Ohio Steel Stingers. Members of the team stood in front of the Assembly while Representative Keller announced the teams accomplishments.
The Ohio Steel Stingers are a 4H-based team from two Ohio Shooting Sports Clubs. Together the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) and 4H Shooting Sports Program are focused on teaching life skills to youth through the shooting sports programs.
The Ohio Steel Stingers team is comprised of boys and girls from 5th grade through 12th grade. The team is evenly split between boys and girls and has grown from six youth in 2014 to over 35 this year. The State of Ohio has become one of the top states with registered athletes in SASP with more teams joining the program.
The Ohio Steel Stingers are looking forward to the upcoming 2017 National Championships held at the Cardinal Center in Merango, Ohio in July. Athletes from over 38 States are excepted to participate at Nationals.
Thomas Kilbane is the Ohio advisor for the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) and Head Coach of the Ohio Steel Stingers in Butler County, Ohio.
