Ohio Gubernatorial Candidates to Keynote 2018 "Save Our Heritage" Rally presented by Rocky Boots
The candidates to be Ohio’s next governor will address sportsmen at the 22nd Annual “Save Our Heritage” Rally presented by Rocky Boots on Saturday, Saturday, Aug. 18, at Villa Milano Banquet & Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio.
“It’s great to see that both candidates recognize the important role that sportsmen and women play in conservation,” said Evan Heusinkveld, Sportsmen’s Alliance president and CEO. “There will be many conservation challenges facing the next governor, and our members are looking forward to meeting and hearing from both candidates on their vision for Ohio.”
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, the Republican nominee, and former Ohio Attorney General (2009-11) Rich Cordray, the Democratic nominee, will both speak to one of the state’s largest gatherings of hunters, anglers and trappers about their bid for governor and the important role that sportsmen play in conservation and protecting the Second Amendment.
“I look forward to seeing Ohio’s great sportsmen and women at the Sportsmen’s Alliance annual dinner, said Mr. Cordray. “A special thanks to them for all their hard work on behalf of conservation and wildlife in Ohio.”
Undoubtedly, this year’s election will be one of great interest for Ohio’s hunters, anglers and trappers, as the Ohio Department of Natural Resources – Division of Wildlife faces significant budget challenges over the next 10 years. The next governor will inherit those challenge and need a strong vision for the future of Ohio’s fish and wildlife resources.
“Ohio Sportsmen and women play a vital role in conserving and protecting our precious fish and wildlife resources,” said DeWine. “The fact is, their license and permit fees pay for the lion’s share of the wildlife conservation work accomplished in our great state. I am pleased to say that I stand with and support our sportsmen and women, and will work diligently to address the issues and opportunities that are before them.”
