BFA endorsees to pack Senate majority leadership for 133rd General Assembly
Buckeye Firearms Association endorsees have been elected by Senate Republicans to a majority of leadership positions for the 133rd General Assembly, which convenes in January.
The incoming Senate Republican Caucus re-elected BFA "A+"-rated Sen. Larry Obhof to serve as Senate President.
The other members of next year's Senate Republican leadership team are:
- "A"-rated Sen. Bob Peterson (R-Sabina), president pro tem
- "A"-rated Sen. Randy Gardner (R-Bowling Green), majority floor leader
- "A"-rated Sen. Matt Huffman (R-Lima), majority whip.
This bodes well for gun owners looking for real improvements in Ohio gun laws. In Guns & Ammo's ranking of "Best States for Gun Owners," Ohio ranks 28th, and falls behind all but one of its border states. Michigan, which passed concealed carry one year before Ohio, ranks 26th. Indiana comes in 20th, West Virgina ranks 15th, and Kentucky is ranked 14th.
Gun owners are encouraged to contact these Senators, congratulate them on their appointments, and express your hope that pro-gun legislation will take center stage in the 133rd General Assembly.
If you want to see the General Assembly act to improve gun rights in ways that are already enjoyed by the majority of other states, call your Representative and Senator NOW and tell them you expect pro-gun legislation to move in Ohio BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR. They asked for your vote on Election Day. Tell them we want their votes too.
