Armed off-duty officer asked to leave "no-guns" victim zone in Ohio

Lost in the busy election season was a report about a "no-guns" victim zone in Olmstead Township, OH that is so off-the-rocker against people exercising their Constitutional right to self-defense that they even asked an armed off-duty police officer to leave.

From an October 8 WEWS (ABC Cleveland) report:

Swings-N-Things has its weapons policy posted right on the front door. Weapons are not permitted.

"Most facilities, like us, don't allow guns at their facilities because of our clientele," said owner Tim Sorge.

Sunday evening, Sorge said, a man was getting out of a go-kart when a guest noticed he had a weapon in a holster under his shirt. That guest alerted a worker, a park manager then told the man guns are not allowed.

The man identified himself as an off-duty deputy and thought he should be allowed to carry his gun, Sorge explained. Sorge said the officer was asked to put his gun in his car but the officer and his family decided to leave...

According to the article, the wife of the Lake County Sheriff's Deputy later posted about the incident on Facebook. The post has since been taken down.

The vast majority of multiple-victim public shootings occur in places where guns are banned, and yet the owner of Swings-N-Things Fun Park believes a determined criminal will stay away because of sign on his door.

If and when the need arises, we have no doubt Mr. Sorge will dial 911, and be far less concerned about armed law enforcement in his establishment when they arrive.
