NRA-ILA announces opposition to SB 221
The National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) has joined Buckeye Firearms Association and other Ohio gun groups in opposing Sen. Matt Dolan's SB 221, legislation which seeks to make Gov. DeWine's "STRONG Ohio" plan state law.
On December 3, NRA-ILA Ohio State Director David Weber informed Senate President Larry Obhof that because of the variety of problems and anti-gun sentiment found throughout SB 221, the NRA-ILA opposes the bill.
"Although this measure was crafted as a response to violent and unspeakable tragedy, we are once again reminded that good intentions are no guarantee of good policy," Weber wrote. "In it's current form, SB 221 undermines the Second Amendment rights of Ohio's law-abiding citizens while doing nothing to keep our communities safer."
