Columbus woman defends own life with firearm when man violates protection order
WHIO (Dayton CBS) is reporting that a woman shot a man who reportedly violated a protection order.
From the article:
A woman told police she shot a man who she said walked into her house Saturday night on North Regent Park Drive in Bellbrook.
“I have an intruder, my child’s father, and he’s shot,” the woman said when she called 911. “He just walked in my front door. I was sitting in the garage smoking a cigarette.”
Officers responded to the 1900 block of North Regent Park just after 6 p.m. after the woman called for help. Andre Evans, 40, of Dayton, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital South in Centerville, where he died from his injuries about an hour later, records show.
“I was sitting in my garage. I have a protection order against him,” the woman told police.
Police have not made any arrests or charged anyone in connection to the shooting.
Under Ohio's Castle Doctrine law, if someone unlawfully enters or attempts to enter an occupied home or temporary habitation, or occupied car, citizens have an initial presumption that they may act in self defense, and will not be second-guessed by the State.
