Petro campaign announces endorsements from GOP legislators
On the heels of appointing the strong pro-gun state Sen. Joy Padgett as his running mate, gubernatorial candidate and current Attorney General Jim Petro has announced the individual endorsement from 50 members of the Ohio General Assembly for his campaign for governor.
Among the list of endorsees are names which will be extremely familiar to Ohio gun owners.

Petro-endorser Bob Latta chairs the House Committee on Criminal Justice where HB347 is currently under consideration. Other members of this important committee which have endorsed Petro include David Evans, Jim Hughes, Sally Conway Kilbane and Derrick Seaver. Of the 37 GOP Representatives who have endorsed Petro, 30 have earned at least one endorsement from this political action committee. There are 60 Republicans in the Ohio House.
Not surprisingly, the list of 13 Senators who have endorsed Petro includes his running mate, Sen. Joy Padgett, who is sponsoring companion legislation to HB347. 8 out of the 13 Petro endorsers have earned at least one endorsement from this political action committee, and a total of 10 voted for House Bill 12, which became Ohio's concealed carry law. There are 22 Republicans in the Ohio Senate.
"I am grateful to have such widespread support from the General Assembly," said Jim Petro.
In the GOP primary contest for governor, the Buckeye Firearms Association has endorsed both Petro and Secretary of State Ken Blackwell. We are confident that both of these gentlemen are true friends of gun owners who understand the importance of self-defense, hunting and sport shooting. Jim Petro and Ken Blackwell can be counted on to use their leadership to further the rights of gun owners by working with the legislature to improve our laws.
