Dillon Ladies Have a Blast
By Linda Walker
The weather may have been bleak, but that didn’t stop several ladies from coming out to the Dillon Sportsman’s Club, for their first-ever ladies-only night!
The members of the club sponsored the evening, geared towards inexperienced shooters without the intimidation of having the man in their life hovering in the background.
Various stations were set up including pistol, rifle, shotgun, trap and skeet ranges. The women could try one or all of the stations throughout the evening. The Dillon Sportsman’s Club and their sponsors supplied everything needed including firearms, ammo, targets, eye and ear protection, food and more.

Buckeye Firearms Columbus volunteer Clint Lake and Buckeye Firearms leader Linda Walker, both certified NRA basic pistol instructors were on hand for pistol instruction.
“We had several ladies come through our station through the course of the evening. Only one was an experienced shooter. For the most part, none of the others had ever shot a firearm before. It was very gratifying to see them shot and then with a little coaching, improve their aim,” commented Linda. “Several indicated they may want to pursue getting their CHL’s, after they have gotten more experience with firearms.”
It was a fun, positive, upbeat evening for both the attendees and those who were volunteer instructors. Special thanks to Terry Baker, director of the club, and Rick and Jenny Redman for putting this special evening together for the ladies who came out. This is the good stuff that memories are made of!
