What Are You Listening To?
By Chris Chumita
It was not that long ago that the liberal media had total control. The anti-gun and anti-freedom organizations had free reign to use the radio and television to spew their propaganda. Pro-gun and freedom organizations were forced to use less effective means to communicate such as mass mailing and newsletters. During those dark times, pro-gun and pro-freedom editorials and stories were even rarer then they are today.
The winds of change started several years ago. Conservative talk radio was born and its popularity continues to grow. Finally, there was an outlet for conservatives, pro-gun, and pro-freedom people to have a voice. It did not stop there. As technology grew, so did opportunities to broadcast pro-gun and pro-freedom messages. Today, we have a growing number of pro-gun and pro-freedom radio shows, internet shows, and podcasts. Listed below you will find a list of the most notable shows.

NRA News (Cam & Company)
Not too long ago, a so-called conservative tried to reign in free speech, but the NRA would not stand for it. Upon passage of campaign finance reform laws, the NRA and other pro-gun groups were forbidden from responding to the established media’s anti-gun bias in the last few weeks before an election. Instead of just complaining about, the NRA became part of the solution. As a result, NRA News was born.
The flag ship show for NRA News is “Cam & Company.” It is the first Second Amendment related radio show that is broadcast “LIVE” five days a week. It is broadcast live at NRAnews.com and on Sirius Satellite radio channel 144 from 9:00 P.M. to midnight eastern time, Monday through Friday. The show is archived and is available to be replayed until the next show airs. Downloadable archives will be available soon.
“Cam & Company” is hosted by Cam Edwards from the NRA’s studio in Washington D.C. The three hour show tackles a wide variety of Second Amendment and freedom related issues. It is filled with commentary, interviews of Second Amendment activists, “man on the street” interviews, armed citizen stories, and all of the information you need to know about the fight to protect our Second Amendment rights. The show covers the fight to protect our Second Amendment related rights at the local, state, and national level. In fact, several volunteers from the Buckeye Firearms Association have been guests on “Cam & Company.”
There is truly enough going on in the fight to protect our Second Amendment rights to fill up a daily radio show. Cam Edwards, John Popp, Joel Brewer, Ginny Simone and the rest of crew’s hard work shows, because "Cam & Company” can easily compete with any of the nationally syndicated talk radio shows.
Recently, the NRA added two new features to the NRA News website. “The Daily News With Ginny Simone” gives you a quick, hard hitting recap on the day’s Second Amendment related events and stories from 5:00 P.M. to 5:15 P.M. eastern time, Monday through Friday.
The other new feature is a daily blog from a man who needs no introduction, Wayne LaPierre. Wayne LaPierre’s audio/video blog is called “What They Didn’t Tell You Today.” and it discusses the facts that the main stream media ignored in various Second Amendment and freedom related current events.
It should be noted that NRA News is totally listener funded, and it deserves our support. You can make a donation here.
Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk
Tom Gresham’s “Gun Talk” is probably the oldest and most well known of the Second Amendment related shows. The three hour show is produced weekly and is nationally syndicated. It is available through live through an internet feed, on over 35 radio stations, XM satellite radio, and Sirius Satellite radio. A list of radio stations and air times is available here. In addition to listening to the show live, free downloadable archives are available here.
The host, Tom Greshman, is a nationally know firearms expert, and his knowledge of various firearms is amazing. He is very entertaining, and you will definitely find yourself counting down the minutes to his next show.
“Gun Talk” focuses entirely on gun technical questions, discussions with various representatives for the firearms industry, personal safety, and everything involved in the fight to protect our Second Amendment rights.
Live Fire With Larry Pratt
Larry Pratt is the executive director of the Gun Owners of America, and co-hosts “Live Fire.” The show is streamed live through the World Information Center on Saturdays at 12:00 P.M. eastern time and free archives are available at Soundwaves 2000.
“Live Fire” is a very entertaining and powerful show. It focuses on Second Amendment related issues, and a wide range of freedom related topics. This is one of those rare shows that you will wish that you heard about it a long time ago.
Some of “Live Fire’s” recent shows include; Overkill: The Rise of Paramilitary Police Raids in America, US submerging in North American Union: Threat to Gun Rights, the UN's prolonged campaign to disarm US gun owners, and The Wests Last Chance: Confronting Radical Islam.
Talkin’ To America
“Talking’ To America” is a series of archived interviews conducted by the executive director of the Jews For The Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO), Aaron Zelman. The interviews hit on a broad range of Second Amendment and freedom related issues.
On the “Talkin’ to America” web site you can print out transcripts of the interview as well as download then interview it self.
The above shows are just examples of some of the excellent programs that are out there.
Because of them, Second Amendment activists and freedom lovers are finally having a chance to have our voices heard. We must support the shows that give us our voice, or we maybe silenced forever.
