Pro-Gun Punditry: Wednesday's Buckeye State Roundabout
By Chris Chumita
There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.
What follows is our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.
From another shooting in a church to a cocaine shortage in Cleveland, these articles should be a part of your required reading!

8/13/07: Neosho, Missouri: 3 Dead as Gunman Opens Fire in Missouri Church
From the article:
The gunman ordered all the children out of the church before he started shooting and briefly held between 25 to 50 people hostage before surrendering, McCracken said.
At least five people were wounded, McCracken said. But he said others who were injured may have fled before police secured the church. Police have been told that the five who were injured will recover, he said.
This is exactly why we should be able to legally carry in church. Also, what exactly is a "9mm machine pistol"?
8/13/07: Virginia: Students Push For Guns On Campus
From the article:
College students are pushing for their schools to allow them to carry guns on campus, saying they should have the right to protect themselves in a situation like the one in which 32 Virginia Tech students and faculty were fatally shot.
Students and faculty should have the right to carry a firearm for self-defense on campus. We need to work together to pass a law that would prevent our colleges from being victim zones.
8/12/07: Cleveland, Ohio: Unarmed Lawmaker Mugged By Reality
From the article:
DeBose told Gun Week, the periodical of The Second Amendment Foundation, that he was taking a walk around his quiet residential neighborhood on the evening of May 1 when he was accosted by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The unarmed DeBose took the only option available to him — he ran to a neighbor’s home and pounded on the door. The hoodlums, apparently worried DeBose’s yelling would attract witnesses, jumped in their car and drove away.
Long an advocate of stricter gun-control laws, DeBose, along with his wife and several neighbors, have since enrolled in classes to obtain concealed-carry permits.
DeBose's CHL class was sponsored by the Buckeye Firearms Association and Commence Fire. Please note that the article is the second article on the page.
8/10/07: National: JPFO: Wikipedia and Misinformation
From the article:
Like most other organizations, Wikipedia has an entry for JPFO, which you can find at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPFO. While JPFO did not create the original "wiki" page, we have since added relevant material to the site. Unfortunately, others have added their own "spin" as well.
Why do we say that? At various times in the page's history (which you can view by clicking the "history" tab on the page) the JPFO wiki page contained some highly misleading statements about JPFO. Volunteers have corrected them, but someone subsequently erased the corrections while adapting some of our text to transmit more inaccurate information. Our volunteers also added additional information about JPFO's products and positions -- that material was also erased.
The Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) is a great organization and deserves our support. Hopefully, any inaccurate and misleading information will be removed.
8/8/07: Cleveland, Ohio: Cocaine In Short Supply In Cleveland
From the article:
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson believes that the shortage in cocaine could be to blame for a spike in certain violent crimes close to home.
Cleveland took a timeout from their war on legal gun owners to blame their skyrocketing crime rate on a shortage of illegal drugs!
