There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.

What follows is our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.

10/27/07: Dayton, Ohio: Man Shot While Holding Baby

From the article:

Police said officers arrived at the scene and found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his arm and one to his chest. They said the victim was holding a 1-year-old child at the time he was shot.

The predators in our society will strike whenever they get a chance, and often do not care if they endanger others while pursuing their intended target.

10/27/07: Gainesville, Flordia: Blind Man Shoots Home Intruder In Neck

From the article:

The 75-year-old retired taxi dispatcher, who's been legally blind for the past 61 years, opened fire on the would-be-thief who kicked down his door, police said.

This incident helps prove that a firearm is a great equalizer, and one may have saved the life of this intended victim.

10/26/07: State Wide: No Campus Arms Race

UNIVERSITY administrators, parents, and law enforcement agencies all know that alcohol, drugs, and college students are a combustible combination. It makes no sense, therefore, to add guns to a mix that already often proves too much for young adults to handle.

But that's exactly what Students for Concealed Carry on Campus wants to do. The group has organized a protest at Ohio State University and other college campuses across the country to point out the purported unfairness of students not being able to attend classes packing heat.

This is a perfect example of one of the major things that is wrong with our society. We seem to be trapped in a "victim" or "sheep" mentality. This is the mindset that tells you that it is somehow "wrong" to defend yourself and teaches us to be totally reliable on the government for protection and our basic needs.

We should also be discussing how we can restore the Second Amendment rights of 18 and 19 year old ADULTS. These are often the same people who are bravely defending our country in Iraq.

10/25/07: Mansfield, Ohio Threats Of Violence Disrupt Several Ohio Schools

Tension has been high at Mansfield Senior High School after a brawl was followed by rumors spread by cell phone text-messaging that someone would bring a gun to school the next day, police Chief Phil Messer said.

Following the fight Monday, more than 600 of the 1,300 students in the central Ohio district either stayed home or left early on Tuesday, and about 350 were absent Wednesday, according to school officials.

How long will we tolerate school shootings and repeated violent threats against our schools? It is time that we allow teachers and staff members to be armed.

10/25/07: Cleveland, Ohio: Cleveland Student Suspended After Creating Hit List

The Cleveland Teachers Union said a special needs student at Jane Addams made a list of students he was unhappy with and threatened violence.

Our schools will continue to be an extremely vulnerable target unless we take a stand. We must allow any teacher or school staff member, who wishes to do so, to be able to carry a concealed firearm to protect our schools.

10/25/07: Saginaw, Michigan: Cops: 4 Students Shot at Michigan Middle School Football Game

A shooting near a middle school football game left a high school student in critical condition and injured three other people, officials said Thursday.

Also from the article:

About 100 people were attending the game when the gunfire erupted at halftime, Vanderhaar said.

Once again, we see another violent incident that proves that "Gun Free Zones" only create an illusion of safety.

10/24/07: Brookhaven, New York: Store Clerk Wields Ax To Thwart Robbery

From the article:

Hafize Sahim, a 5-foot-4 store clerk, is standing tall in the face of a robber. Police in Suffolk County, N.Y., said Sahim grabbed an ax and chased away a would-be bandit at the store where she works.

Citizens are tired of being victims and are starting to fight back.
