12/11/07: Cleveland, Ohio: Man Shot On Cleveland's East Side
From the article:
Cleveland police and paramedics are rushing to the 1060 block of East 168th Street. Two callers said a man has been shot and a postal carrier tried to help him.
Well, it looks like Cleveland's "gun buy back" program didn't make the city any safer.
12/7/07: Mentor, Ohio: Police: 2 Armed Men Rob Mentor Restaurant
From the article:
Mentor police are searching for two armed robbers. Police said two men entered Penn Station on Mentor Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Thursday.
Violent crime can happen in "safe" cities such as Mentor. That is why we must always always be alert and prepared to defend ourselves.
12/7/07: Cleveland, Ohio: Man Fatally Shot Near Bar
From the article:
Cleveland police are investigating the shooting death of a man near a Cleveland bar Thursday night.
When will Cleveland focus its attention to the violent offenders who are destroying the city instead of targeting law-abiding gun owners?
12/6/07: Socorro, New Mexico: Men Shot During Attempted Home Invasion
From the article:
Two men were trying to get into a Socorro home when they were shot, according to police.
Home invasions appear to be happening more often. When they do occur, a firearm maybe the only thing that can save your life.
12/4/07: Akron, Ohio: Loaded Rifle Left In Church Office For Gun Buy-Back Program
From the article:
Unofficially, the buy-back program began on Monday when someone left two rifles in a church office.
One of the rifles was even loaded.
"That could've been an accident in someone's home with someone's family because it was just there for several years for what I understood, and if a grandchild visits her family member, niece or nephew had to come to the home, then we would not be reporting that the gun was turned in but was used in an actual shooting," said Pastor Marc Neal.
Or we could be reading about how a child or someone not familiar with firearms "found" the load gun and had an accident with it in the church.

Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt. This incident reminds us that violent criminals will target anyone - even children.
