Municipal Primary 2005
As a part of our expanded focus on general firearms issues, this political action committee intends to direct our attention to an increasing variety of local races in the state of Ohio for off-year elections. This year, there were two mayoral primary contests which piqued the interest of Buckeye Firearms Association because they were between pro-gun candidates and out-and-out liberal anti-gunners. Unfortunately for Second Amendment supporters, primary day gave these cities Queen City Blues, Glass City Groundhog Day.
Buckeye Firearms Association ENDORSES this Toledo candidate in the 2005 primary:
Office | Name | Party | |
City of Toledo Mayor | Rob Ludeman* | Republican |
*Rob Ludeman is currently a Toledo City Councilperson. He has a history of opposition to Toledo's many senseless gun control ordinances, most of which were passed by two of his opponents, former mayor Carty Finkbeiner and current mayor Jack Ford, who were the top two vote-getters on primary day.
Buckeye Firearms Association ENDORSES this Cincinnati candidate in the 2005 primary:
Office | Name | Party | |
City of Cincinnati Mayor | Charles Winburn** | Republican |
**Charlie Winburn is a Cincinnati City Councilperson and NRA member. In 2000, Winburn worked with the NRA to challenge the city's reckless lawsuit against gun manufacturers. One of his opponents, term-limited State Sen. Mark Mallory, was a consistent anti-gun vote in the Statehouse, and was one of the top two vote-getters in the primary.
