Pro-Gun Punditry: Wednesday's Buckeye State Roundabout
By Chris Chumita
There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.
What follows is our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.
From a Deputy shooting himself to stolen guns, these articles should be a part of your required reading!
What follows is several days of headlines accompanied by short, concise pro-gun analysis.
4/20/08: Berlin, Ohio: Deputy Shot With Own Gun
From the article:
A Holmes County deputy was in the hospital on Sunday after being shot with his own gun, NewsChannel5 reported.
The sheriff said Sgt. Wade Johnson may have accidentally shot himself while trying to remove his firearm.
Accidents like this should NEVER happen. Keep your finger off of the trigger until you are ready to fire!
4/20/08: Columbus, Ohio: Assault, Attempted Robbery Reported By Campus Hotel
From the article:
Ohio State campus police issued an alert on Saturday night after a man claimed he was punched in the head by another man who then attempted to steal his briefcase.
More violence in a criminal protection zone. The campus gun bans only disarm the law-abiding and make them safe targets for criminals.
4/19/08: Wickliffe, Ohio: Police: Man Rapes Woman After Getting Into Car At Stoplight
From the article:
Police said Robinson forced his way into the woman's car when she stopped at a traffic light at East 105th Street and Superior Avenue and made her drive home, where he raped and robbed her.
Thankfully, the police caught this animal. Unfortunately, this incident is another tragic example of why we need to carry a firearm for protection.
4/18/08: National: "Pro-Gun" Group Endorses Most Anti-Gun Candidate
From the article:
When it comes to campaign rhetoric on the Second Amendment, we’ve seen a change in the way many anti-gun politicians campaign. Rather than talk openly about their desire to ban guns, register gun owners, and regulate firearms sales, anti-gun politicians talk about their “support” for sportsmen. Rather than admit they oppose the individual right protected by the Second Amendment, they claim they “support firearm ownership for hunting.”
Also from the article:
In keeping with their “pro-gun” stance, this week, AHSA did the last thing one would expect of a pro-gun group—they endorsed Democratic hopeful Barack Obama for President!
The Buckeye Firearms Association warned you about American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA) back in June of 2006. Click HERE to read our article about the AHSA called "A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing."
4/17/08: Findlay, Ohio: Police Search For Serial Robber In Ohio
From the article:
Authorities said they think a man who robbed a bank in Findlay last week is the same man suspected in seven other heists in northwest Ohio and southern Michigan since September.
The crime spree continues and the police have not been able to stop the robber. This is exactly why we should always be prepared to defend ourselves.
4/15/08: Willard, Ohio: Reward Offered For Info On 29 Stolen Handguns
From the article:
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who stole 29 handguns from a gun shop last month.
This is more proof that criminals do not use legal means to obtain firearms. If you have any information about this crime, contact the ATF or the Willard Police Department as soon as possible!
