There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.

What follows is our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.

From a church shooting to a home invasion, these articles should be a part of your required reading!

What follows is several days of headlines accompanied by short, concise pro-gun analysis.

7/27/08: Knoxville, Tennesse: Second Church Shooting Victim Dies

From the article:

A city official said that a second victim has died following a shooting at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church Sunday in Knoxville.

Incidents like this exactly why we are fighting for our rights to carry a firearm for protection in places of worship.

7/26/08: Bakersville, Ohio: Ohio Man Charged After Killing Black Bear

From the article:

An eastern Ohio man charged with shooting an endangered animal said he killed a black bear as a matter of self-defense when the animal ran toward him.

By charging the man, state wildlife officials are basically saying that the life of the black bear is worth more than the life of a human. You should have the right to defend yourself against any animal that attacks you, even if it is an endangered species.

7/24/08: Cleveland, Ohio: Man Shot In Foot During Robbery At Gas Station

From the article:

A driver was hit in the head with a gun and shot in the foot during a robbery at a gas station at East 88th Street and Buckeye Avenue Thursday morning.

Officials said two drivers were robbed and carjacked by six men at the Marathon gas station. This happened around 2 a.m. Thursday. The stolen cars were recovered.

Always be prepared to defend yourself at all times, even while getting gas!

7/24/08: Monroe, Washington: Burglar Beaten By Would-Be Victims

From the article:

When a 24-year-old man sneaked into a house on the 21600 block of 164th Drive Southeast in Monroe at about 3:30 a.m. and threatened the couple with a gun, they fought back. The two would-be victims, a husband and wife, beat the would-be robber with a baseball bat.

This incident had the best possible outcome, because the victims refused to be victimized and fought back.

7/24/08: Phoenix, Arizona: 3 Shot On College Campus; Man Arrested

From the article:

Officials said three people were shot Thursday afternoon at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, and two of them were critically injured.

More unarmed victims are injured by an armed criminal in a gun free zone. When will we learn our lesson and allow college students, faculty, and staff carry firearms for protection on our college campuses?

7/21/08: Columbus, Ohio: Teen Shot To Death In Break-In, Police Say

From the article:

Police said a teenager carrying a BB-gun was shot after he broke into a Franklinton home on Sunday.

Also from the article:

Police said Joshua Lemaster shot Jackson while the teen and two others were trying to rob Lemaster's home. Jackson's brother Cashius Jackson, 26, and Lucretia Fudge, 17, were arrested and charged with murder. Police said the two participated in the home invasion and could be held responsible for Terrance Jackson's death.

This is an excellent example of how a citizen uses a firearm to defend themselves angainst thugs who invaded his home. I would hate to think of what may have happened if the victim was not armed.
