There are more stories pertaining to our gun rights in Ohio then we can possibly draw attention to with individual daily commentary. But they are all worthy of mention.

What follows is our review of headlines from around the state though a pro-gun rights lens.

From a church shooting to a gun accident, these articles should be a part of your required reading!

What follows is several days of headlines accompanied by short, concise pro-gun analysis.

9/4/08: Forest Park, Ohio: Man Charged With Shooting Church

From the article:

A man who allegedly told police he was "tired of hearing about your Jesus" was charged Thursday with firing 36 rounds into an Ohio church.

The gun grabbers say that there is no reason why we should be able to carry in church. This incident is just another example of why we need to. Thankfully, no one was hurt in this incident.

9/4/08: Westlake, Ohio: Woman Says 4 Men Invaded Her Home, Groped Her

From the article:

A Westlake woman told police that four men forced their way into her home at 2 a.m. Thursday and demanded money. The 26-year-old resident said that two of the four men had guns.

She said they pointed the gun at her 3-year-old son while ransacking her home. She also said she was groped and the men, who appeared to be intoxicated, threatened to rape her.

Home invasions seem to be happening more and more. They even happen in "safe" communities such as Westlake.

9/2/08: Parma, Ohio: Armed Robber Sought In Parma

Police are looking for an armed robber believed to have targeted three Parma businesses since Thursday.

Violent encounters can happen anywhere at anytime. Be prepared.

9/2/08: Willoughby, Ohio: Police Discover 33 Rounds In Student's Duffel Bag

From the article:

Police arrested a 15-year-old Willoughby South High School student Tuesday accused of firing two shots inside the school.

Thankfully, no one was hurt in this incident. However, it only reinforces our argument that we need to allow teachers and staff to legally arm themselves.

8/28/08: Cleveland, Ohio: Woman Walking To Bus Stop Robbed By Armed Man

From the article:

A woman walking to an East Side bus stop at 6:30 a.m. today was robbed by a man who jumped out of hiding and pointed a gun at her.

The statistics may say that crime is down in Cleveland, but residents still risk being robbed, attacked or killed while walking to a bus stop.

8/27/08: Cleveland, Ohio: Man Robbed, Possibly Shot In Foot

From the article:

Cleveland police are looking for at least two people who robbed a man and then possibly shot him in the foot.

Another violent incident in Cleveland. Too many of Cleveland's residents have to live in fear of the thugs who rule the streets. It is time to take them back.

8/27/08: New Franklin, Ohio: Police Say Stow Man Dressed As Deputy Enters Manchester Schools With Gun

A Stow man was arrested by New Franklin Police Aug. 26, the day after police say he walked into three Manchester Schools dressed as a sheriff's deputy, wearing a badge and carrying a .22 caliber handgun.

This incident is yet another example of how vulnerable our schools are. It is time to allow teachers and staff to legally arm themselves.

8/26/08: Cleveland, Ohio: Woman Says She Woke Up With Man On Top Of Her

A suspect is in jail Tuesday morning in connection with an attack in Ohio City, police say. The attack happened a year ago, but residents are still on edge because of several other recent attacks, including one that happened over the weekend. A 25-year-old woman said she was attacked in her own home.

Police have been investigating similar cases since last August. Each woman fought off the attacker. Four attacks are currently under investigation.

It is great that they have a suspect under arrest. However, that does not heal the mental scars that the victims will have for the rest of their lives. we need to learn from these horrible incidents so that we do not become victims. Always be prepared to defend yourself!

8/25/08: Dayton, Ohio: Shots Fired On University Of Dayton Campus

Evidence of bullet casings were found on Stonemill Drive and witnesses reported seeing three men firing a gun into the air early Sunday morning.

Once again, we see that "gun free zones" like college campuses only create an illusion of safety. Criminals will continue to be armed in so called "gun free zones."

8/24/08: Amherst Township: Former Lorain County Prosecutor Is Improving After Being Shot

From the article:

Jonathan Rosenbaum -- Lorain County's former chief criminal prosecutor -- was upgraded from critical to serious condition today, a day after being shot in the back by his son, Aaron Rosenbaum, while the two were skeet shooting at a gun club.

This sad incident could have been avoided if the basic rules of gun safety were followed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rosenbaum family.
