Sources: Legislation threatening Ohio's deer herd sent back to the drawing board
On February 3, outdoor writer and hunter education instructor Larry S. Moore, a long-time volunteer leader for Buckeye Firearms Association and winner of the 2005 USSA Patriot Award and 2007 League of Ohio Sportsmen/Ohio Wildlife Federation Hunter Educator of the Year, offered opponent testimony expressing his personal opposition to Senate Bill 225, which the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance (USSA) contends threatens the future of deer hunting in Ohio.
It now appears sportsmen have been heard loud and clear.
According to Moore's sources, Division of Wildlife Chief Dave Graham is now working with the Department of Agrculture to craft new legislation that will keep the proper authority for both departments, and also clarify the rules for easier understanding.
We will continue to monitor this issue and provide updates when warranted.
