Most employees are expected to come from Columbus and the surrounding area. Typically, Cabela’s attracts applicants with detailed knowledge about the outdoors and an aptitude for customer service.
“We are looking for enthusiastic employees who are eager to serve the many loyal Cabela’s customers across Ohio and the region,” said Jim Daugherty, general manager of the new store. “The ideal candidate is passionate and knowledgeable about the outdoors and enjoys working in the team dynamic.”
Daugherty joined Cabela’s Manager-in-Training program in May and has more than 20 years of retail management experience.
The 80,000-square-foot store – Cabela’s first Ohio location – will be located at 1650 Gemini Place in the Polaris Shopping Center, which also includes Costco, Cambria Suites, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Hobby Lobby as well as the Polaris Business Park.
The building’s exterior will reflect Cabela’s popular store model with log construction, stonework, wood siding and metal roofing. A large glass storefront will allow customers to view much of the interior as they approach the store.
The inside will be highlighted by thousands of quality outdoor products, as well as dynamic wildlife displays, a mountain replica, 5,575-gallon aquarium, Gun Library, Bargain Cave and Fudge Shop.
Currently, Cabela’s operates 40 retail stores across the United States and Canada. The company has announced plans to open an additional 12 by the end of 2014.
