Black Calls Kettle...Black
Last week, we reported that an Ohio Court of Appeals panel was reviewing a complaint filed against Maureen O'Connor by her opponent Tim Black.
A three-judge hearing panel, two Democrats and one Republican, recommended that the Court of Appeals order the ad’s immediate removal from the air and consider levying a fine or other sanction against her.
Lt. Gov. O’Connor said she plans to appeal the ruling even though she was in the process of replacing the ads.
"Before this ruling was even published, we had produced new advertisements," she said. "I have reviewed the law in this area carefully and I believe that the committee’s decision is clearly an error."
In a display of blatant hypocracy, Black trumpeted that "O’Connor has violated the law. She should take the ads down immediately. We need our justices to be judges, not politicians who run misleading and unlawful ads."
The irony in Black's complaints over misleading ads is this: Black is appearing today at a his own hearing after he tried to pass off judicial ratings for his 1999 re-election campaign as ratings for his current race.
