Ohio Concealed Carry ranked as top state-wide story of 2004

It got beat out by two national stories in the overall ranking (the Presidential election took two slots and the capture of Columbus "sniper" Charles McCoy Jr. in Las Vegas took third), but passage of Ohio Concealed Carry was the top Ohio-only story in 2004, and ranked an impressive fourth on the list of the 10 most memorable stories of the year.
The stories were ranked by Ohio Associated Press newspaper editors and broadcasters, released on Christmas Day.

Some papers included quotes from some of the top stories. One of the only papers which included a quote on passage of OhioCCW was the Cincinnati Enquirer:
- Ohio concealed gun law: After years of having an ambiguous gun law on the books, Ohio in April passed concealed-carry law, which allows citizens to carry concealed weapons, after a permitting process. "Now qualified citizens, young and old, rich or poor, regardless of their race, can now choose to carry a firearm for their defense and security," wrote Tom Williams of Dayton.
