
Ohio State pistol team beats Navy, Army to win 5th national championship
For the fifth consecutive year, the Ohio State University Buckeyes air pistol team has won the national championship, held March 14-16 in Anniston, Alabama.
Head coach Emil Milez and the Buckeyes won both the sport and air pistol events, defeating, Army, Navy, Utah, and The Citadel, according to a post on the OSU pistol team's webpage at ohiostatebuckeyes.com/news/2025/3/15/champions-again-pistol-wins-fifth-consecutive-national-title.
The overall individual aggregate winner was Ohio State's Marcus Klemp, who had a final score of 1140. Klemp finished second in the air pistol competition (572) and the sport pistol competition (568), according to the post.
Teammate Blaine Simpson placed third overall, with a seventh-place finish in the air pistol and a first-place showing in the sport pistol (569).
The Buckeyes also had the fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-place overall finishers, respectively, according to the post. They were Abbie Leverett (fourth, 1115), Riya Salian (fifth, 1108), and Jonathan Dorsten (sixth, 1104).
Ohio State had six of the top 10 overall finishers.
