1/7/07: Cincinnati, Ohio: Tougher Sentences Sought In Cases Involving Illegal Guns
From the article:
Sergeant Jeff Hunt says more killings could be prevented with a tougher crackdown on gun crimes.
The NRA, and pro-gun advocates have been begging for a tougher crackdown on illegal guns. It makes more sense to go after real violent criminals with guns than going after a law-abiding gun-owners. We just have to make sure that new laws don't get p[assed that turn otherwise law-abiding gun owners into criminals.
1/6/07: Washington Courthouse, Ohio: Four Deputies Fired In Case Tied To Murder-Suicide
From the article:
Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth has fired four deputies, saying they delayed the arrest of a former auxiliary deputy who one week later fatally shot his wife and himself.
Also from the article:
Jackson and Olsen had gone to Bailey's home to serve a civil protection order sought by his wife, Lori. The order required him to leave the home and for deputies to seize any guns.
Hyer, formerly a corporal and shift supervisor, called the off-duty Patricia Bailey to alert her, Stanforth said. She went to the home and stopped Jackson and Olsen from removing all the guns, Stanforth said.
The Buckeye Firearms Association has reported on this story several times, and we will continue to keep you updated. The victim did everything that the gun-grabbers instruct people to do who are being threatened or abused. She got a protection order and called the police. However, this case sadly proves that a protection order is only a piece of paper and the police cannot always be counted on to protect you.
1/6/07: Dayton, Ohio: Paroled Rapist Indicted In Bus Stop Attack On Woman
From the article:
A paroled rapist was indicted Friday on three felony counts stemming from an attack on a woman waiting at a downtown bus stop.
Once a predator, always a predator. As long as we continue to release animals like the this paroled rapist loose, we will always need to carry firearms to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
1/4/07: Columbus, Ohio: Police Fatally Shoot Robbery Suspect At Lane And High
From the article:
Police said the suspect had an assault rifle in the vehicle. It was not known whether the victim had fired the weapon at police before he was shot.
How could he have had an assault rifle? I thought that assault rifles were currently illegal in Columbus. Oh yea, thats right....violent criminal don't obey gun laws.
1/2-3/07: Toledo, Ohio: The following is a series of articles concerning violent crime in Toledo:
Group with guns attacks, robs 2 on Locust Street
Pair Pistol-Whipped By 5 Men In South End
2 Men Robbed Of Money, Jewelry On Lagrange St.
Man fatally shot on Lagrange St.; Toledo's toll is 35
When will the City of Toledo realize that their strict gun control laws are NOT working? Gun control laws only disarm the law-abiding and make it easier for criminals to prey upon the innocent.
1/2/07: National: NRA Sounds Alarm of Not-So-Imminent Threat
From the article:
The famously combative lobby, with 4 million members, is displeased with the voting histories of Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and other top Democrats in the House and is putting them on notice that it won't tolerate passage of anti-gun measures.
Also from the article:
No matter. The NRA is on high alert, and its latest weapon is a pamphlet designed to send its members into fits of paranoid rage and to inspire them to open their wallets.
The columnist's anti-NRA views are obvious in this article. The NRA is trying to get more gun owners to become active in the fight to protect our Second Amendment rights. It would be too late if gun owners waited until there was an "Imminent Threat" to start fighting for our rights.
