The Uninvited Ombudsman Report, No. 60 - Gun Ban Announced

1- Gun Ban Announced

The lamestream media told you:

"The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today," according to ABC News on Wed., Feb. 25. http://tinyurl.com/acoxa4

"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make," he said, adding it would have a "positive impact" on drug lords running wild in Mexico, tying the proposal to 700 people recently arrested as drug-war combatants.

A connection between mass arrests that have taken place, and a law not on the books yet is illogical, but ABC ran this "news" item anyway. Many people will be led to believe the unrelated facts are somehow connected, since they went to government schools and cannot think straight.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

The nation is now screaming about Eric Holder's off-handed remark about renewing Bill Clinton's restrictions on so-called "assault" weapons. New bills waiting in the wings go way past anything Clinton envisioned in his failed ban. The most recent list is here: http://www.gunlaws.com/GunLawUpdate3.htm

When I spoke with Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign at the New York Bar Assn. back in Dec., he admitted that they haven't been able to go after criminals effectively, so they figure their only option is to go after guns. This is Brady's fatal flaw.

The New York Times, which repeatedly extolled the Brady-backed gun infringement during its 10-year lifespan, wrote in a rare moment of candor, after the bill expired that it, "has not caused any noticeable increase in gun crime in the past seven months," and that the government-assaulted private firearms "were never used in many gun crimes." It was a feel-good do-nothing burden on we the people. "The dire predictions that the streets would be awash in military-style guns," when the restriction ended was false, a fact gun owners knew the entire time. That was as close as the Times came to a correction for ten years of deception and gun-rights hatred. http://tinyurl.com/bbfupx

The public needs to tell Congress, "Focus on criminals, NOT property." If Congress goes after a normal modern household rifle like the AR-15, they hurt the voters, not the criminals. Congress should aggressively assault criminal misuse of ANY firearm, not the firearms themselves, and especially not guns the public holds, which is infringement and flatly prohibited. "Focus on criminals, NOT property." Arrest another 700 drug warriors, or even declare a truce in the war on some drugs and just abandon the hostilities.

Assault is a type of behavior, not a type of hardware. The term assault weapon, invented by the Brady Campaign, is a smokescreen, routinely spread by the media, to denigrate firearms and the great American traditions that have kept this nation free.

If the media, the politicians and the people go after criminal activity, we will rise up as one against a scourge we all face. If the media and the politicians go after our property, they will face a firestorm of hostile resistance, as they should, for violating the Bill of Rights and attempting to deny freedoms we already possess and hold dear. If they do that in the name of stopping crime, they are bald faced liars, we will know it, and it will not be tolerated.

2- Affordable Rifle Ban

The lamestream media told you:

Nothing.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

Affordable rifles imported from former Eastern bloc countries including Romania, Bulgaria, the former Yugoslavia and elsewhere would be banned from entering the U.S. if a N.Y congressman has his way, hurting those nation's economies and denying affordable long guns to American consumers. http://tinyurl.com/aneexf

Congressman Eliot Engel, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, wrote a letter signed by 53 members of Congress urging president Obama to "return to enforcement of the law banning imports of assault weapons, which was previously enforced under presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton." The firearms he denigrates with the Brady-inspired "assault" word are single-shot-at-a-time rifles like any normal household firearm.

The congressman's media release about his letter uses the tired tirade about this being a "no-brainer... requiring no legislative action," to "protect our brave police," and a "market flooded with imported, inexpensive, military-style 'assault' weapons." He fails to note that assault is a type of behavior, not an imported product.

The public is able to get the fine value-priced merchandise as kits, parts imports, reassembled models with some American-made parts, and as curios and relics. Criminals found with the firearms, which even the New York Times has said are bulky and unpopular with street gangs, are subject to immediate arrest and imprisonment -- completely apart from gun type or nation of manufacture.

Part of a larger racist scheme to ban guns for anyone but the rich, it is a new twist on the discredited and now abandoned "Saturday Night Special" schemes (remember those?), and "junk gun" schemes (remember those?) that would outlaw firearms in poverty-stricken neighborhoods, largely populated with people of color, where they really need the guns for self defense and protection against rampant government-sponsored crime from its war on some drugs.

3- Heller Case Working

The lamestream media told you:

Nothing.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

The Heller case at the U.S. Supreme Court, which established that the right to keep and bear arms is a "specific enumerated right" and protected for individuals, has produced a court result overturning a federal statute. It is believed to be the first such lower-court holding.

U.S. v. Arzberger concerns part of 18 U.S.C. §3142(c)(1)(B), which requires that when someone is charged with possessing child pornography (among other crimes) and is freed on bail, the right to possess any firearm is removed.

Magistrate Judge James C. Francis IV (Southern District of New York) wrote in his opinion, "although the Supreme Court has indicated that this privilege may be withdrawn from some groups of persons such as convicted felons, there is no basis for categorically depriving persons who are merely accused of certain crimes of the right to legal possession of a firearm."

Several other cases, where hardened criminals tried to squirm out of just punishment using Heller as a shield have failed, proving that Heller is not a get-out-of-jail-free card as some "news" groups have suggested, and that legitimate laws attacking truly criminal behavior are constitutional and proper.

5- Ammunition Scarce Somewheres

The lamestream media told you:

The economy is hopelessly bad.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

Greg D., an average Joe and friend on the east cost reports: "Funny story (sad really), we have been trying to buy extra .380 here in SC and also in GA and it is non-existent. Everyone who carries is stocking up. But I was in Maryland -- where no one but a friend of the governor can carry, and the shelves were full." According to anonymous economists, this is caused by the law of supply and demand. Knowledgeable insiders report that president Obama is trying to repeal that law.

Frank Lucero in Arizona, while speaking with Glock on a business matter, was told they are running three shifts and are a half million guns behind. Similar reports have filtered in from gun and ammo makers everywhere.
