VIDEO: Home invasion caught on nanny cam displays the tragic result of gun control

by Chad D. Baus

New Jersey's News 12 reported recently on a vicious attack, perpetrated in broad daylight, which was caught on a nanny camera inside a woman's home.

From the article:

Police have released a physical description of the man they are searching for in a brutal home invasion case.

Officials say the suspect is a black male, between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall. He is approximately 230 pounds and between 37 and 45 years old. There is some gray in his beard and he appears to be left-handed.

Law enforcement is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the man involved. The attacker brutally beat a woman inside her home and in front of her 3-year-old daughter on Friday.

Police say the video has already provided them with several leads. The victim, who News 12 New Jersey is not identifying, says her daughter saw everything and that she tried her best to hold herself together during the attack.

"I knew that if I started screaming, my daughter would too, and I was afraid she would get hurt," the young mother said. "I took it. I didn't cry the entire time."

Neither the girl nor a 1-year-old boy sleeping upstairs was injured in the attack. The man is seen pushing his way into the home and repeatedly punching and kicking the woman, who has released the nanny cam video in order to help police catch her attacker.

The woman is seen being punched and kicked at least 16 times before she was pushed down the basement stairs. She suffered a concussion and facial injuries. The attacker got away with jewelry, including the woman's wedding ring. Officers have checked pawn shops to see if the suspect has tried to sell those items.

Police say the attacker's behavior shows that he may have committed this crime before. The family says they will be installing an alarm system.

Unfortunately for the victim, an alarm system is about her only option, although sadly, all that is likely to guarantee is that the police eventually get there to mop up. New Jersey gun control laws make it extremely difficult for this woman, who can be seen being brutally beaten in this video, to own a handgun to defend her life in her own home in New Jersey.

According to Wikipedia, in New Jersey, firearm owners are required to get a lifetime Firearm Purchaser Identification card (commonly known as a FPIC, FPID or FID card) for the purchase of rifles, shotguns or handguns. To purchase a handgun, a separate permit is needed from the Chief of Police of their municipality, or the Superintendent of State Police if the municipality does not have a local police department. New Jersey also limits handgun purchases to one per 30 day period, and heavily restricts hollow point (self-defense) ammunition. New Jersey prohibits the possession of certain named firearms or "substantially identical" firearms deemed to be "assault firearms", including possession of parts from which an assault firearm may be readily assembled. By statute, New Jersey has a may-issue concealed carry permit system, in which authorities are allowed discretion in the approval and denial of applications. After a background check by the law enforcement agency, permit applications are forwarded to the Superior Court where they are approved or denied.

Right now, NJ Gov. Chris Christie (R) is being asked to sign an anti-second amendment legislative package which suspends Second Amendment rights without proof of firearms training, imposes a seven-day waiting period for handgun purchases, ends all private sales, imposes an outright ban of the .50 BMG and effectively creates a registry of ammunition purchases and long gun sales.

The following video shows just what all those gun control laws add up to:

And to think that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg thinks this sort of thing is so preferable to her being able to defend herself that he spends millions to make sure many other women suffer the same brutality, with no recourse.
