Where’s the media outrage over Fast and Furious?

By Tim Inwood

After discovering that a friend had no idea what I was talking about when mentioning "Operation Fast and Furious" and "Project Gunrunner," I find myself disgusted with the lousy job the press has done covering this major scandal. CNN is usually on in his workplace, yet he had no clue. In the past, minor issues like Valerie Plame became huge national scandals. However, what might bring this administration down is getting little notice. Flatly, few know of it.

Shortly after President Obama made the false allegation that 90 percent of crime guns in Mexico came from the USA, Fox News exposed that the number was much lower; 17 percent at best. Obama lied. Shortly after that, the Justice Department requested and got $10 million of stimulus money for Operation Gunrunner; this can be found on page 16 of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, under Office of Justice Programs. Both President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder denied knowledge of the operations that oversaw thousands of guns being sold to gun smugglers who took these firearms to criminal cartels in Mexico. There is no logical reason to allow guns to get to criminals in Mexico other than to make the president's lie about the number of crime guns in Mexico with American origins a reality, this of course to justify new anti-gun legislation desired by Obama.

On May 3rd, Eric Holder, under oath, told Congressman Darrell Issa's committee he had only learned of these programs "a few weeks before." This was a lie. Holder is on the record speaking about the operation on April 2, 2009 and on other occasions too. Lying to Congress is a crime and the Attorney General needs to be sacked immediately and prosecuted.

Obama has denied that the White House knew anything. However, emails between BATFE agent Bill Newell and White House National Security Director for North America Kevin O'Reilly, from September 2010, show otherwise.

As a result of these Federal operations there are dead Americans and Mexicans, lots of them. Where's the media outrage, wall-to-wall coverage demanding justice, heads and impeachment?

Demand justice from Washington. Holder at a minimum must go now.
