Will You Help?

By Chris Chumita

The Buckeye Firearms Association has been fighting hard to restore our Second Amendment rights and we have a proven track record of success. In the end of 2006, we saw the first veto override of the Governor in approximately 30 years when we assisted with the passage of HB347. HB347 eliminated Ohio’s idiotic “plain sight” requirement for concealed handgun license (CHL) holders and preempted all of Ohio’s local firearm related ordinances. You can read about HB 347 here and here.

We also helped pass laws that made it easier to introduce new people to hunting (HB296), and helped protect sportsmen’s dollars (HB367). Among many other issues, we are working on protecting our firearms from confiscation during disasters (and finally “legalizing” self-defense by passing a “Stand Your Ground/Castle Doctrine” law, allowing hunters to carry concealed handguns, and much more. In order to be successful, it is going to take a lot of hard work.

We are always in need of volunteers to help pass out pro-gun literature, write or call legislators, campaign for pro-gun candidates, and other tasks. If you don’t have the time to volunteer, you can help in other ways. For example, forwarding our weekly email newsletter to as many people as you can. However, one of the most important things you can do is vote for pro-gun candidates on Election Day. Please sign up as a volunteer here!

Even if it is only a few dollars, consider making a donation to the Buckeye Firearms Association. You can become a Buckeye Firearms Association “Defender” by making a $25 annual donation. All donations will help us lobby for pro-gun legislation, educate voters, print materials, maintain our informative web site, and much more. No money will be wasted on salaries, because we are a 100% volunteer organization. Every penny will go to helping us fight for our Second Amendment rights.

Another fun way to help is by attending the 2007 Buckeye Blast. The Buckeye Blast is an all-day event is a combination of IDPA-style scenario shoots and basic tactical training. It’s designed to be fun for everyone, from beginners to advanced shooters. During the Buckeye Blast you will be shooting at targets, plates, and steel silhouettes on the range and in live fire houses. There is also a challenging force-on-force house where you will have the chance to test your self-defense abilities with an airsoft gun and one or more attackers. The price to attend the Buckeye Blast is a bargin considering the training and experience that you will gain. Not to mention that the money will help fund the pro-Second Amendment activities of the Buckeye Firearms Association. You can sign up to attend the 2007 Buckeye Blast here.

Together we can win the fight to restore our Second Amendment rights.
